I still remember the day he brought that motorcycle home.
Back then, GM hit the pause button every year for two glorious weeks around the Fourth of July. For a teenage boy like me, that meant one thing: adventure time with Dad.
We’d pack the saddlebags on that ol’ Honda—tent, sleeping bags, and toot brushes (as we jokingly called them). Then we’d hit the road.
We Didn’t Know It, But Those Were Formative Days
We saw it all:
- The Corn Palace (yes, really)
- Wall Drug
- The World’s Largest Ball of String (spoiler alert: it’s… string)
Sure, there were National Parks and historic sights.
But what really stuck with me were the endless hours on the back of that bike, listening to Folsom Prison Blues on repeat, watching the country fly by.
To this day, I can’t hear Orange Blossom Special without mentally landing somewhere between the Badlands and a gas station in Nebraska.
We weren’t chasing goals or crafting life strategies.
We were just in it—fully alive in the moment.
And that changed me forever.
These Are Your Formative Days Too
If you’re building a business, this is your version of those wild motorcycle trips.
Forget “the good old days”—these are them. Right now. The ones you’ll talk about someday.
So here’s the big question: When you look back, what story will this season tell?
- Are you getting crystal clear on your vision?
- Is your team aligned—and laser-focused—on that vision?
- Are your systems built for scale, or held together with duct tape and good intentions?
- Are your people empowered to drive, not just execute?
- And—be honest—are you having fun on this grand adventure?
Don’t Miss the Moment
Opportunity isn’t knocking—it’s practically kicking down your door.
This could be your World’s Largest Ball of String moment.
So go out and grab it. Build something unforgettable.
This is your time.
P.S. Thanks, Dad.
